Bhutan Day 10

Every country does have it's own characteristic and these somehow make each country so unique. Over the last 9 days, we have see, feel and enjoy the culture, people and food in Bhutan. It was a great experience to be here.

Bhutanese people are one of the friendly, warm-hearted people I have seen. Seem like the GHNC ( Gross National Happiness Commission) that the 4th King have introduce is working well here. The untouched environment have also preserve the beautiful scenery in Bhutan making the air always clean and fresh. I would definitely recommend any of my friend who would like to visit Bhutan. Thumbs up.

Baby Belling

Been baking for 10 years and decided to invest on a reputable oven. Read many review on this oven call Baby Belling, well known for its quality, durable and maintain even heat temperature during baking. But this oven is not commonly found in Singapore, I have looking around, called the distributor and it's coming to Singapore. Quickly go around looking for it and saw it in a electronic store. This oven has those old fashion look and is really solid, the door is pretty thick and closed really tight. You can find more details of the oven here. http://www.belling.co.uk/baby-belling Wasting no more time, I quickly place an order for it and have to wait 2 days for it to arrive. Finally today, I got my new oven!!!! My Baby.. came wrapped up nicely... After unwrapping it. It has also 2 hobs on top of the oven, cool.... Peeling off the protective sticker on the stainless steel door   The inner p...

Bhutan Day 2 - Thimphu

This picture was taken from the window of my hotel room. Saw the big soccer field? That's the place where the current 5th king held his marriage in 2011. The celebration lasted 3 days and 3 nights!  The locals came to catch a glimpse of the wedding ceremony and also to give their blessings to the King and Queen. University of Buddhist Studies After an early breakfast, we set off to the University of Buddhist Studies which is located at about 2800m above sea level. We had to take a hike up, which lasted about 45 mins This university is equivalent to any other universities where the students (monks) have to attend lectures and examinations. These monks are highly respected in the country and people  come to them to seek their blessings. It was a good morning exercise for us. I like the cool, clean fresh air, the gentle sunlight make it a good weather for hiking. I was glad that I had prepared myself physically for this trip. However, the high altit...

May birthday celebration

I decided to bake a Manhattan cheesecake for the birthday babes and hunks in my office. Baking a Manhattan cheesecake requires tons of patience. This is liken to baking the kueh lapis except that the cheesecake has only 3 layers, it is still a painstaking process nonetheless! To bake a good Manhattan cheesecake, each layer has to be baked separately. Firstly, you have to lay the 'foundation' - the graham biscuit. Once the 'foundation' is laid, you can proceed to lay the cheese cream and finally top up with cream. There is nothing more rewarding than to know that my colleagues  love the cheesecake - it was pure divine, to die for ... isn't too cheesy. My labour of love has not been in vain!                                                     One last piece for grab, hurry!
