The morning breeze and the clean air always make my day.
After breakfast, we will be heading off to Bumthang, the central part of Bhutan.
Our breakfast this morning is very much western-style.
There's waffles, toasted bread, the waffles has a different texture from the one that I normally had. It's much fluffy and non sticky to the teeth.
The round solid yellow block which resemble egg tart is actually butter!
Along the way to Bumthang, we went to Trongsa Dzong. This Dzong was laid in the 16th century by Pema Lingpa and flourished during the 17th century under Shabdrung Ngwang Namgyal.
Did you see the monk on the right with a whip?
He will lash the whip hard on the floor. This is to signal to the others that it is time to for lesson!
I really like this posting, but too bad, there's no LIKE button on this board.
PEACE to the world!
Our next stop is the museum. It used to be a tower but has since been restored into a museum which showcase the heritage, culture, history of Bhutan. There are 224 items on display, this includes artifacts, ritual costumes and objects that were used by the first king. Ancient prayer books, paintings and scrolls and textiles. However, no photography is allowed here.
We continued our journey to Bumthang. Bumthang is on a latitude of 2800m above sea level. I enjoyed the sunny clear blue sky, the cold breeze and the beautiful scenery along the way which make this long winding ride a pleasant one.
We've finally reached Bumthang! It is so much colder and drier compared to the other provinces.
We stayed in Hotel Peling. However I do feel that it's more like a little resort. My room is located on the second floor. The room is big and spacious.
There's a fireplace in the room, and I was really thrilled that I would have the opportunity to try it later this evening.
See the corns beside the fireplace? That's the fire starter. It catches fire fast and can burn the wooden logs for quite a while before dying out. Stones are place on top of the fire stove to absorb heat and emit out into the room. Somehow I do find that this fireplace emit more heat compare to the electric heater, making the room warm and cosy. The drawback is that I have to keep adding the logs as time passes by.
If you notice there's smoke coming out from the roof at the last photo, the smoke are from the fireplace and it also an indicator that someone is staying in there.
