Bhutan Day 3 - Thimphu, Punakha

Today we are moving north east towards Punakha.
Had our early breakfast and we notice it raining in the morning. But the rain seem to be falling in very slow speed. After taking a closer look. It's snowing!!!!!!

Never in my life had seen falling snow, this is so spectacular.  Wasting no time, had a quick breakfast and went back my room to get my camera. I'm behaving like a small kids, playing with the snow, trying to feel it falling from the sky. The whole sky is fill with falling snow. The snow are so soft, and melt in my hands. After a short while, my hand starting to get freezing cold. Now i understand what is call "white beauty".

Those trees at the foreground are apple tree.
Our guide, Kinley.
Our driver, Thinley
Having snow fight with both of them.
A dog walking around.

However this snow fall have causes a road close along the way to Punakha, we have to return back to Thimphu as its too dangerous to proceed on.

We had our lunch in Thimphu while waiting for further news from our guide. Today we had western food, I had a carbonara, mushroom soup and a cup of latte. Food was average.

We were pretty lucky, our guide have inform us that the gate is now open and we are able to carry on with journey after lunch.

Blue Sky with big sunny sun now, most of the snow start to melt and water start to drip from the trees and the roof.

Punakha which is north east of Thimphu,  about 3 hours of drive. Road is really windy and the water from the melting snow causes it to be muddy, the entire journey is bumpy. Those with motion sickness or weak stomach have to take precaution. Took a photo of a house along the journey, seem that this potion of Punakha is not affect by the snow fall.

Before reaching Punakha, we reach the Dochula pass which is about 3150m above sea level. What make this place special is the 108 Druk Wangyal Khangzang Chortens that was built by the present Queen to honor the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed during the war against Indian rebels. When the sky is clear, you will see the sprctulator Himalaya mountain at this mountain top. However there are quite alot of thick clouds today and were not able to see it. Hope we are able to see it when we are going back to Paro

The thick white cloud that block the view of Himalaya mountain
Snows covering the chortens

We continue our journey and finally reach our hotel. It's a pretty decent hotel and yet a resort style. Overseeing the river, mountain and padi field. Air is so clean here, taking a deep breath make me fresh and awake after the long car journey.

There's a balcony for every room.

Flowers outside my room. Can you see the moon?

Feeling tired after a long ride today, decided to rest early after dinner. Getting ready for tomorrow journey.
Nite.

Singapore Kin Kin Ban Mian

Have tried this in Malaysia and this is now always available in Singapore. I have posted in one of my post and the noodle was fantastic. When this shop was open in Singapore, there are long queues everyday. Therefore I have waited for the queue to cool down before trying this. I went there on a weekday and there is totally no queue. This shop is located in Macpherson road. Well, it might be a central location but have to walk around 5 mins from MRT station. Menu are available on the wall and you can place order by writing on the form they have provided on the table. I ordered the signature ban mian, can't wait to add in their dry chilli. Ordered their signature fish-ball soup too as according to my friend, this is nice. Serving was fast and in the noodle and fish ball soup are brought in front of us. For me, the noodle is not as nice compare to the one that I had in KL. The noodle is quite hard, it feel as the noodle is not totally cook. This is not ca

Ubin First Stop Restaurant

It was my mum’s birthday and we had an impromptu dinner at Ubin First Stop Restaurant.   Located in Changi Village, it’s a place whereby me and my family go quite often as its pretty laid back and quiet. Such places are hard to find now a days. It isn’t our first time there and it was the pleasant experiences which led to me writing this review. Nothing special to the setting of the place but it makes you feel as if you have returned to kampong days. There’s aircon and non-aircon seating area. Depending on individual preference, we prefer the non-aircon area. The restaurant is pretty spacious, an ideal place for families with kids. Sambal Petai with Prawns The Sambal Petai with prawns is cooked together with ikan bills and onion. The ikan bills add the crunch and with the spiciness of the Sambal, it leaves us satisfied and craving for more. A good dish to go with rice. For those that do not know about Petai. It is also known as 臭豆 (smelly bean) in Chinese as it has this
