One Michelin Soba Ramen - Tsuta

Came upon Tsuta, the one Michelin Sobal ramen restaurant at Changi Airport Jewel.  The Original Truffle Shoyu Soba The Soba noodles are perfectly made. It is soft enough but not to the hard side. You could feel the bite, not to the point of Al Dente.   The broth has this light Shoyu taste with a hint of truffle. This is before I mix in the actual truffle. I could feel the strong truffle after mixing it in. Yaki Gyoza This Gyoza has standard.  The edges are not burned. It is tender and packed with flavour. I tried it without the sauce on the first one and loved it. The sauce did beef up the flavour a bit however I can do without it.

Singapore Kin Kin Ban Mian

Have tried this in Malaysia and this is now always available in Singapore. I have posted in one of my post and the noodle was fantastic. When this shop was open in Singapore, there are long queues everyday. Therefore I have waited for the queue to cool down before trying this. I went there on a weekday and there is totally no queue. This shop is located in Macpherson road. Well, it might be a central location but have to walk around 5 mins from MRT station. Menu are available on the wall and you can place order by writing on the form they have provided on the table. I ordered the signature ban mian, can't wait to add in their dry chilli. Ordered their signature fish-ball soup too as according to my friend, this is nice. Serving was fast and in the noodle and fish ball soup are brought in front of us. For me, the noodle is not as nice compare to the one that I had in KL. The noodle is quite hard, it feel as the noodle is not totally cook. This is not ca

Ubin First Stop Restaurant

It was my mum’s birthday and we had an impromptu dinner at Ubin First Stop Restaurant.   Located in Changi Village, it’s a place whereby me and my family go quite often as its pretty laid back and quiet. Such places are hard to find now a days. It isn’t our first time there and it was the pleasant experiences which led to me writing this review. Nothing special to the setting of the place but it makes you feel as if you have returned to kampong days. There’s aircon and non-aircon seating area. Depending on individual preference, we prefer the non-aircon area. The restaurant is pretty spacious, an ideal place for families with kids. Sambal Petai with Prawns The Sambal Petai with prawns is cooked together with ikan bills and onion. The ikan bills add the crunch and with the spiciness of the Sambal, it leaves us satisfied and craving for more. A good dish to go with rice. For those that do not know about Petai. It is also known as 臭豆 (smelly bean) in Chinese as it has this

Victor's Kitchen

Located at Sunshine Plaza, this humble little shop attracts many people each day. Even before the shop opens it door at 1030 daily, there are people queuing outside for their authentic Hong Kong dim sum. No queue sign but there's people queuing...haha The tables are arranged pretty closely to each other, which reminds me of the Cha Chan Tang (café) in Hong Kong.     流沙包 (custard bun) This 流沙包 (custard bun) is no joke, the bun skin is very soft and the custard is superb. The bun is soft and the custard filling has this rich salted egg flavor. Be careful when you bite, as the custard filling will ooze out, sinful! It's a bit on the oily side as you can see a layer of oil on top of the custard filling. Definitely must try!!! Sausage yam cake  This reminds me of the yam cake my grandma use to make when I was young.  A very homestyle feel Victor’s sausage yam cake is fragrant and savory. And there’s lap cheong inside, something not quite common now

Tibet - Everest Base Camp

To the Land of Snow, the Roof of the World When I announced to friends that I am going to Tibet, I am often greeted with a WOW reaction. For many of us, Tibet is a mysterious, exotic and spiritual Buddhist country . It is a country that is lo cked away in the corner of the earth. What is it gonna to feel like at the roof of the world? My 10 days journey to Tibet  was a trip that I very much looked forward to going . Altitude sickness is the most often mentioned challenge when visiting Tibet.   How does one overcome it? Can I? Pre-tip preparation There is no direct flight from Singapore to Lhasa. You have the option to get to Lhasa via domestic flight in China or via train. Also, you will need to engage an agent to prepare the travel permit and also purchase the air ticket to Lhasa. Some took train to gradually adapt to the altitude. People do encounter headache and short breath.  We decided to skip the train and flew to Chengdu instead. We arranged to meet the age
